He is the patriarch of the family, very old and wise. Grandpa knows all the secrets of the forest and knows that the Tree People must nurture the
Ancient Forest and protect it from the ‘Giants’.
Grandma Guelder
She is the matriarch of the family as wise as Grandpa Quercus. Grandma remembers all the old family recipes and remedies.
Rowan
He is the oldest and wisest sapling having learnt many of the ‘old ways’ from Grandpa Quercus, because of his experience he leads them and
makes the most important decisions when the saplings find themselves in a scrape. However, he listens carefully to the others and will take advice.
Alder
She is the second eldest and a risk taker nothing scares her, she is a problem solver and very quick thinking. Alder enjoys making things to help in
sticky situations. She makes grass ropes during the long winter nights and uses these to get them out of trouble.
Cherry
She is the third eldest. Cherry is very caring and worries about the other saplings (especially Hazel) she also helps to calm situations.
